Nissan Officially Launches 2013 Note B-Segment Hatchback in Geneva

Ever since Nissan showed off their Invitation concept, at last year's edition of the Geneva Motor Show, and announced that it previews the next generation of their popular Note hatchback, we knew they were planning a change of style. Sure, the old Note was a practical and spacious car, but let's face it; it was just a bit boxy and uninspiring to look at.
Thankfully, the 2013 model changes all that, with more pronounced flanks, and generally more voluptuous shapes, hiding its still rather upright shape with some clever styling cues which are now the norm on a style-obsessed European supermini market.Set to go on sale in Europe later this year, the new Note will be powered by a base 1.2-liter petrol engine, with 80 hp and 110 Nm (81 lb-ft) of torque, as well as a supercharged 1.2-liter DIG-S unit also available on the Micra. The force-fed petrol unit puts out 98 hp and 142 Nm (105 lb-ft) and is actually more efficient than the normally-aspirated variant.
A Renault-sourced 1.5-liter DCi diesel will also be available, and with 90 hp and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) it will move the compact Note with ease. Furthermore, it is easily the most efficient engine on offer, boasting a claimed figure of 3.6 l/100 km (78.5 mpg UK) – considerably better than the supercharged petrol engine, which manages a very respectable 4.3 lt/100km (65.7 mpg UK).
The Note will be built in Nissan's Sunderland plant, in the UK, alongside the Juke compact crossover as well as the Europe-bound all-electric Nissan Leaf.

This is the refreshed Nissan Micra, also known under the March nameplate in some countries, which was officially revealed in Thailand this week and will be rolled out in other markets around the world, including Europe, over the next few months.
The current fourth-generation Micra, now in its third year of production, features a mild cosmetic makeover that introduces a newly designed fascia with revised headlamps, a new grille and bumper assembly, along with a fresh choice of alloy wheels and hubcaps, a new rear bumper and LED-equipped tail lamps.
Interior revisions concern the new center console with square vents and different controls for the air-conditioning system, redone graphics on the instrument panel's Multi-Information Display and fresh colors and trims.
Nissan made no mention of any mechanical updates.

Mitsubishi Reveals 2014 Mirage Hatchback with 40MPG at the New York Auto Show

Seeing how…successful the i-MiEV was with North American buyers, the maker of the Lancer EVO, and once upon a time, of the Eclipse and 3000 GT as well, is expanding its local sub-compact offerings with the new Mirage, a small five-door hatch that measures jut 148.8 inches (3,779mm) long, 65.6 inches (1,666mm) wide and 59.1 inches (1,501mm) tall. The Mirage nameplate has been used in the past, though; this does not really explain Mitsubishi's "triumphant" press statement: "Making a triumphant return to the North American marketplace, the all-new 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage 5-door sub-compact is the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid gasoline vehicle available in America."
Powering the U.S. market Mirage is a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine with Mitsubishi's MIVEC variable valve-timing system, producing 74hp and 74 lb.-ft. of torque, with gearbox options including a 5-speed manual and a continuously-variable transmission (CVT), both driving the front wheels.
With the CVT, Mitsubishi estimates that the Mirage will return a fuel economy of 40 mpg combined, 37 mpg city and 44 mpg highway.
Standard features on all models will include seven air-bags; Active Stability Control (ASC) with Traction Control Logic (TC); automatic climate control; power windows with driver's side auto-up/down; power side mirrors; and a 4 speaker 140-watt AM/FM/CD/MP3 audio system with USB/iPod input.
Sales of the 2014 Mirage in the States will begin this fall with pricing to be announced.
