Buick Shows Facelifted 2014 Regal, GS Drops from 270HP to 259HP

type='html'>

The unveiling of the 2014 LaCrosse on Monday was followed today by the release of the first pictures and details of Buick's second world premiere for the New York International Auto Show, the 2014 Regal in both regular and GS trims.Perhaps the most interesting and at the same time, somewhat disappointing news for the Opel / Vauxhal Insignia's American counterpart, is the replacement of the outgoing Regal GS' 2.0-liter turbocharged unit that produces 270hp and 295 lb.-ft. of torque (400Nm), with a new 2.0-liter force fed four-cylinder rated at 259hp and 295 lb-ft (400Nm).
On the bright side, the same 259hp engine is shared with the Regal Turbo, which in the 2013 model delivered 220hp. The 2.4L engine with eAssist light electrification technology that makes 182 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque continues for the 2014 model.
As before, six-speed automatic transmissions are matched with all engines, while the GS is offered with a six-speed manual as well. Electric power steering is now featured on all models. A new Haldex all-wheel-drive system that incorporates electronic limited-slip differential to help optimize traction in all driving conditions is optionally available on the Turbo and GS models with automatic transmission.
Buick's designers made some mild styling tweaks to the exterior of the sedan, including a revised grille, new headlights with LED daytime running lamps, restyled front and rear bumpers, and a new set of LED tail lamps together with a full-width chrome strip at the back.
Key interior changes concern the refreshed instrument panel and the redesigned center console with fewer buttons and a customizable 8-inch screen for the latest version of Buick's infotainment system.
For 2014, the Regal also introduces new radar- and camera-based safety features – including Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Alert and Collision Mitigation Braking.

Nissan NV200 Mobility Taxi Shows It Is Wheelchair-Friendly at NY Show

type='html'>

It seems that Nissan is trying to place itself in the background of two of the most iconic postcards one can hope of ever sending: from New York, and London. They want to replace the familiar shape of cabs in the two cities with theirNV200, which has been modified and fitted outlike a taxi.
Now, on the occasion of the 2013 New York International Motor Show, they are showing that their "Mobility Taxi" is also engineered with care for the disabled, hence it has a folding ramp in the back, for easy wheelchair access.
While you may think this is nothing to write home about, Nissan would be quick to contradict you, and commence a lengthy explanation of how the ramp works and why they think it's so great. For starters, it is placed at the back of the NV200, which means passing traffic should not be a problem, and it is actually stowed underneath the last row of seats. The seats lift and fold away, and the ramp can then be raised.
As a person in a wheelchair is traveling in the back, the ramp remains in an upright position, and the chair itself is strapped in with a few hooks – the wheelchair passenger also gets his or her own seat belt, which works because it is strapped in tightly.

GM Talks About and Shows Running Footage of the New 2014 Cadillac CTS

type='html'>
|

This week's 2013 New York Auto Show turned out to be a big event for General Motors as it has no less than five world premieres, the most important of which are the new generation of the Cadillac CTS and the revamped 2014 Chevrolet Camaro.
With the CTS series being for Cadillac what the 3-Series is for BMW, it's no wonder that GM paid so much attention to the new model that has been designed from the ground up to look at the German competition (think BMW 5-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class) straight in the eyes.
The first impressions are positive, be that in terms of design - sans the flavorless rear end that looks like it was cobbled up at the last minute and lacks the character of the front, or the technical specifications and the welcome addition of two modern turbocharged powerplants, a 272hp 2.0-liter inline-four, and a 420hp 3.6-liter V6, plus the fact that it's bigger but lighter (by up to 200lbs or 90kg) than its predecessor.
In the HD videos that follow below the break, you can watch GM's people talk about the CTS as well as to see the car on the road.

Bugatti Teaser of "Latest Example of Exceptional Performance" Shows Absolutely Nothing

type='html'>
|

Bugatti has just released a "teaser" for an upcoming model, but we have absolutely no clue as to what it will be. That is down, in part, to them deliberately being ambiguous with the information they share, and in part to the fact that, the teaser they showed features a set of blue hangar doors, with light protruding through the gap – that's all. So, what is it?
The rumored replacement for the ageing Veyron, or another variant of the current car, but with more power, designed to take back the crown as world's fastest car?
Now, when we say ambiguous, we really mean it, because all they were willing to share was that "it's almost time" to reveal their "latest example of exceptional Bugatti performance" – whatever that means. If it is the 460 km/h (288 mph) all-new Veyron with around 1,600 hp, we are extremely eager to see what they have come up with, but if it's another over-the-top paint job and subtle makeover for the present-day model, the interest level goes down considerably. Sure, it will undoubtedly be cool and may even get more power, but it's still the same shape we've been used to since 2005.
Bugatti is expected to reveal more within the next few days, so keep a close eye on the site, because we'll be posting new information on this as soon as we get our hands on it.
