The successor to the notorious Nissan Skyline GT-R, the GT-R R35, may be a global model offered in both left- and right-hand drive formats, but certain special editions and packages remain an exclusive option for RHD markets.One such example is a new version of therecently updated 2012 GT-R (to be sold as a2013MY in North America) for drivers who want increased performance on the racetrack called Track Pack, which will be offered only in Japan and the United Kingdom.
The Track Pack adds £10,000 [US$15,600] to the £74,450 [US$116,150] list price of the regular 2012 GT-R, making it £84,450 [US$131,800].
The exclusively two seater GT-R Track Pack comes with a retuned suspension for optimal track use along with additional brake cooling ducts built in the front bumper and behind the rear wheels, with Nissan claiming that they reduce the operating temperature of the front brake discs by as much as 100 degrees on the track.
On the outside, the Track Pack adds new lightweight six-spoke RAYS alloy wheels with gloss black painted centres and a different front spoiler.
As for the interior, aside from losing the rear seat bench to lower the car's weight, the new edition of the GT-R gains a pair of Recaro front seats trimmed with blue bolsters and a ‘Track Pack’ emblem on the centre console.
There are no changes under the hood with the engine keeping the same specification as the ‘regular’ 2012 model GT-R, which translates to 550PS of power for a 0-60 mph [96km/h] sprint time of just 2.7 seconds.
Nissan is already accepting orders for all 2012 GT-Rs with first UK deliveries expected next March.
