And when Lamborghini says a one-off, it means it as there is only one car, no prototypes and no other example for the Lamborghini Museum. However, for the less fortunate millionaires seeking an open top experience, they'll be happy to learn that the Italian automaker is also preparing a "regular" roadster version of the Aventador.
The special model displayed in Geneva is named after the FIA world motorsport organization's ‘Appendix J’ regulations that define the technical specification of racecars in certain classes.
Lamborghini's designers started by removing the roof along with the windshield and largely redesigning the carbon fiber monocoque, while also adding two safety bars behind the seats.
There's more carbon fiber to be found both on the restyled exterior as well as the interior including the special bucket seats.
On the outside, Lamborghini says that virtually every part was redesigned. The Italian exotic rides on new specially developed 20-inch rims at the front and 21-inch at the rear shod in extra beefy tires. It measures 4,890mm in length, 2,030mm wide and just 1,110mm tall.
The Aventador J loses many luxury amenities such as the air conditioning and the navigation systems not only to lower the supercar's weight down to 1,575kg (3,742 pounds), but also to provide a more extreme driving experience.
What remains the same as the Aventador LP700-4 coupe is the 691bhp (700PS) 6.5-litre V12 lurking behind the passenger compartment.

While we can't really call the Aventador or the Gallardo 'conservatively styled', they definitely are compared to Lamborghini's Geneva showstopper – the Veneno, a car made to celebrate the Italian firm's 50th anniversary.They call it a racing car for the road, and while that concept may have morphed into a clichéover the years, we can see where they're coming from, because the Veneno looks like a stylized LeMans prototype with turn signals.
Its elongated aerodynamic profile, long overhangs and massive rear wing show that this car was designed in a wind tunnel, in order to achieve a very low coefficient of drag, while also providing a lot of downforce. Just look at that comically large front splitter, the racecar-like open rear end purposeful-looking diffuser – they really wanted to make a statement in an age when all supercars are going green.
It is predictably powered by a large naturally-aspirated V12 engine, which displaces 6.5 liters. Based on the unit that powers the Aventador, the V12 has been tweaked to the tune of 50 extra horsepower, pushing the total output figure to 750 hp.
However, while that is a colossal power figure by regular car standards, it's not really that much, in an age when the most powerful supercars are nudging and even surpassing the 1,000hp barrier. Nevertheless, the car has a claimed top speed of 355 km/h (221 mph), and it can crack the 100 km/h (62 mph) barrier in 2.8 seconds, which is blisteringly fast no matter how much horsepower a car has (or doesn't have, in this case).
The impressive figures are due partly to the clever aerodynamics and partly to the car's lightweight construction. Made out of CFRP (carbon-fiber-reinforced-polymer), the car tips the scales at 1,450 kg (3,190 lbs), which is some 125 kg (275 lbs) lighter than the Aventador on which it is structurally based.
However, don't let the racy looks of the exterior fool you, the Veneno is well-appointed inside, featuring leather as well as Lamborghini-patented materials like 'Forged Composite' and 'Carbon Skin'.
Only three of these flamboyantly-styled supercars will be built, all of which have already been sold at a cost of €3 ($3.9 / £2.6) million a pop.

While we're waiting for Lamborghini to get us up to date on the new Veneno, we discovered a fresh set of high-resolution images of the limited run supercar, including the first photos of the interior.Designed to celebrate Lamborghini's 50th birthday, the Veneno is an Aventador LP700-4spin-off featuring a completely different body and a redesigned interior with the same racecar-like feel of the exterior.
Power for the new Lamborghini comes from a massaged version of the Aventador's 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 rated for 740hp instead of 700-horses, with the Italians quoting a top speed of 220mph (354km/h).
Besides the Geneva Motor Show prototype pictured here, Lamborghini will manufacture three production models, each one finished in a color of the Italian flag (green, white and red) and priced at £3.1 million (equal to US$4.7 million or €3.6 million). All three production cars have already been spoken for.

This is it; the new special supercar that Lamborghini promised to reveal at the Geneva Motor Show on March 5 to celebrate its 50th anniversary, and which we rightly assumed was pictured in a single teaser image we found on Facebook this weekend.These print screens are real and at least one of them was sourced from The Sunday Timesnewspaper, which also had an online article thatwas swiftly removed.
The new Lamborghini hypercar is named the Veneno, said to mean "poison" in Spanish. It is built on the carbon-fibre monocoque chassis ofthe Aventador LP700-4, using an upgraded version of the latter's 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 that produces 740hp instead of 700-horses, and can hit a top speed of 220mph (354km/h).
Power is transmitted to all-four wheels via a 7-speed robotized manual gearbox.
The newspaper report says that Lamborghini has put a price tag of £3.1 million on the Veneno, which is equal to US$4.7 million or €3.6 million, but before you prepare to sell your house, kidneys and your grand-children's future, you may want to know that the Italian carmaker has already sold all three cars…

In a few years’ time, the 2013 Geneva Motor Show will be remembered as the venue in which a new breed of supercar was introduced to the world: the hybrid with more than 900HP and emissions less than a conventional one with, say, less than half the firepower.

Both Ferrari and McLaren chose the Swiss event to unveil their new hypercars. Since the latter was practically identical to last year’s concept while the Italians kept their cards close to their chest, the prancing horse premiere was the most eagerly awaited.

Why Maranello chose that name for their most technically advanced model to date (and the one that succeeds the Enzo to boot) defies logic, especially when they have such a rich and exquisitely sounding vocabulary to pick from.

(Bonus Joke: A man walks into a bar and orders a whiskey. The bartender notices the shiny red sports car parked outside. “Is that the new Ferrari?” he inquires. “Yes”. “Which one is it?” “TheLaFerrari”, replies the owner. “Yeah, I know it’s a Ferrari but which one?” says the bartender. “It’s LaFerrari”, stresses the man… Then the bartender either gives up or, if he’s trigger-happy, reaches under the counter, pulls out his gun and shoots the man point-blank for being such a smart-ass.)

It’s not that Ron Dennis’ team strived too hard, either. The spiritual successor to the iconic McLaren F1 was christened the P1, the term used for pole position in Formula 1. Still, it’s better than labeling it TheMcLaren or something like their junior model that sounds like a fax machine.

Lamborghini kept things very simple. It stuck with the time-honored bull-naming tradition for itsVeneno and, unlike the other two, didn’t go all guns blazing on the horsepower front and shunned hybrid systems for a merely updated Aventador-sourced V12. We assume because the role of battling with the two aforementioned rivals is already delegated to the upcoming Porsche 918 Spyder – but that’s VW Group politics to you…

Then again, 750HP and a 2.8-second 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint are more than adequate for everyone bar Formula 1 drivers. Moreover, it beats the other two on exclusivity as only four will be made, so more likely than not, their owners will run into each other as frequently as the Haley comet passes near Earth.

Now, let’s leave HP, 0-100 times, silly name jokes and top speeds out of the equation as they’re pretty much irrelevant – on this planet anyway. Since such models are, first and foremost, judged on the emotions they evoke on onlookers, which of the three do you think is the sexiest: the P1, the Veneno or the Ferrari-formerly-known-as-the-F70/F150?
