Volkswagen built the one-millionth Scirocco in 2013 since production of the first series started in 1974. To mark the event, the German carmaker has announced the Scirocco Million special edition model, which comes with a series of exterior and interior updates and is only available in Germany and China. The automaker also released a similar looking Scirocco R Million study (in a white finish) at this week's Wörthersee Tour, which for the time being, is not for sale.
The production model comes exclusively in the “Deep Black” metallic paint combined with two sporty decorative grey strips that run the entire length of the car. The exterior mirror caps and the standard 18-inch “Interlagos” alloy wheels are finished in matching grey paint, as are the optional 19-inch “Lugano” wheels.
Additional exterior features include R-Line bumpers, side skirts, “smoked” taillights and “Million” badges on the front fenders. On the inside, the Scirocco Million comes with standard black “Vienna” leather seats with “Snap Orange” contrasting stitching, black roof lining and leather-wrapped hand brake lever and gear shift knob.
There are also floor mats with contrasting border trim, stainless steel pedals, scuff plates with the “Million” logo and decorative trim in brushed aluminum. The special edition Scirocco also has a standard RCD 310 audio system.
The Scirocco Million can be ordered with three different petrol and two diesel engines. The gasoline range includes a 122-PS 1.4 TSI, a 160-PS 1.4 TSI and a 210-PS 2.0 TSI, while the two 2.0-liter TDI units bring 140 PS and 177 PS respectively. Except for the entry-level 122-PS 1.4 TSI, all engines are available with a DSG automatic. The starting price for the Scirocco Million in Germany is €27,325 ($35,840).
Around 205,000 units of the third-generation Scirocco have been built since its launch in 2008, with the rest of 795,650 units being from the first- and second-generation.
